Concerned about Environmental protection and respect, Uniross is acting, since several years, alongside 2 associations in order to :
- help collecting and recycling batteries
- promote the use of rechargeable
From August 13th 2005, Uniross carries out its commitment by applying the new European directive for recycling.
The WEEE Directive aims to raise the level of recycling of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and encourages designers to create products with recycling in mind. Potentially, a key part of this is to make manufacturers and importers ("producers") of EEE responsible for meeting the costs of the collection, treatment and recovery of WEEE. If products are designed with this in mind, there is an opportunity to reduce these costs.
Products such as large electric and electronic household (computer, fridge, washing machine…), small household appliance (battery charger, digital camera, toys…) are concerned by this directive.
Its objective is to reduce the amount of electrical and electronic waste disposed of in landfills and incinerators by establishing separate collection and recycling systems for such waste. It also implements the principle of producer responsibility to provide incentives for producers to take into account, already at the product design stage, the need to reduce the use of hazardous substances and to improve the recyclability of these products.
As part of this directive, Uniross chargers show the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol.
This symbol invites all consumers not to throw electrical and electronic equipment with household waste but to dispose it in suitable place. They may contain hazardous substances for health and environment. In order to avoid to have those substances scattering our environment and to reduce natural resources consumption, we invite consumers to use proper take-back systems to dispose them. Local or regional waste administrations will advice on the closest collection site.
